Letter to Homeowners
ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE DEPARTMENT
October 20, 2003
Dear Cedar Creek Home Owner:
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has completed its review
of the Final Work Plan, Field Sampling Plan and Quality Assurance Project Plan
for laboratory testing submitted by Mercury Marine for the Cedar Creek Site.
With the approval of these work products Mercury Marine is ready to begin sampling
the flood plains along Cedar Creek. Work during the week of October 20, 2003
will involve primarily surveying. Our consultants, Blasland, Bouck & Lee,
will establish baselines, tie into the existing control points and establish
floodplain transects. You will see on your property small red flags attached
to wire two feet high along the creek’s edge and the crest of creek bank,
(three per property). The actual collection of samples will start during the
week of October 27, 2003 after this initial survey work is completed.
As previously stated, we will have up to three locations identified for sample
collection on your property. At each sampling point we will take two samples
at depths of 0-6 inches and 6-12 inches. This data will be collected and used
in our Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study of the project.
We are anxious to begin sampling along the Creek; and we want to complete this
floodplain data collection by Nov 14, 2003.
Should you have any question regarding the surveying and floodplain soil collection,
please contact Tom Baumgartner at Mercury Marine. 920-929-5379.
Sincerely,
Tom Baumgartner, Dir Environmental Compliance
